Through real-world case studies, we’ll examine measurable results and lessons learned from the practical implementation of technology and innovation for improved airport operations recognising that success or failure is contingent on effective human engagement, oversight and adoption. We’ll explore how AI, automation, robotics, telematics, autonomous systems, digital twins and predictive operations are transforming airports with a particular focus on the challenges of deploying AI responsibly, including legislation, transparency, accountability and the safeguards required when technology supports critical decisions.  

Airport operators will demonstrate how they’re strengthening resilience and maintaining safe, continuous operations; amid a plethora of risk from volatile geopolitical environments including terror threats, cyberattack, drone disruption and extreme weather to aerodrome safeguarding. Through expert risk modelling, stakeholder case studies and executive-level discussion, we’ll dive into scenario planning, cross-agency coordination and what an effective risk management and contingency master plan looks like in action.  

We’ll consider how organisations should identify, qualify and communicate interconnected risks, examining the shift towards integrated and predictive risk management through telemetry, inspection data and other indicators which enable airports to identify and mitigate threats before they become incidents.  

Through case studies from commercially successful airports of all sizes, we’ll explore how seamless journeys, biometrics, remote baggage collection, city check-in, persona led retail, food and beverage and personalised engagement can increase footfall, spending and customer loyalty. There will also be an in-depth look at how airports should measure passenger experience through meaningful KPIs, surveys, behavioural data and retention to ensure investment in optimising operations and passenger experience, delivers both customer value and revenue growth.

We’ll investigate both the operational benefits and considerations of airport transformation. From AI, automation, electrification and connected systems, to the installation of solar farms and hydrogen stores; what operational outcomes such as improved efficiency, reduced costs and increased resilience should be expected and over what timescale?

The sessions will explore how transformation doesn’t follow a single model. We’ll address how smaller, regional airports can prioritise investment, overcome restricted budgets and adopt scalable technologies appropriate to their size and stage of development.
